Fair and Effective Interviewing for Diversity and Inclusion
A diverse workforce is imperative to an organization’s success. Diversity allows for different perspectives, spurs innovation, enhances problem-solving and introduces new skills to the workplace. Although this point may be obvious, often we still find ourselves passing judgement during the interview process solely based on age, race, sex – or simply because their name seemed a little too “ethnic.” People make all kinds of assumptions and snap judgments about job candidates based on their unconscious and even acknowledged biases, and it keeps them from really seeing the candidates, and evaluating them with an open-mind and without judgement. In our Fair and Effective Interviewing for Diversity and Inclusion course, Vernā Myers highlights skills for interviewing with an inclusive mindset and understanding the stereotypes and biases that cloud interviewing fairly and effectively across difference.
