Our 2022 Look Back

As we close up another year, the team took some time out from the busyness of the holiday season to reflect on what this past year has meant to them. Sharing important milestones, what they are grateful for and how they plan to keep their DEI journey on track in 2023.

Tim Kaelin, President and CFO:

I am grateful for all the people who are doing the work to make this country a place that values all people. I am grateful for all the people who listen, with an open mind, to those who are doing the work. I am grateful for the people who stand up to the people who want to continue to oppress and discriminate against others. I am grateful that we are making progress.

For 2023, I am hopeful that we continue to make progress. I am hopeful that discrimination and hate will continue to be called out and stood up to. I am hopeful that we can have meaningful conversations so that we all can learn about our differences and celebrate those differences.

Jennifer Simpson, Head of Operations and Business Development:

2022 has been a year of taking a more holistic view of appreciating everything in my bubble. One milestone happened on 11/11 as I celebrated my 11th year here at TVMC – what a journey of growth and learning it has been. Another milestone came from my year-long education at Oxford Saïd Business School in Oxford, England; I learned from a global academic institution and cohort and gained 60 new friends, which is a BIG deal at my age!

2023 is going to be full of possibilities. Some of my biggest goals include planning my 50th birthday party, reading at least 6 books out of the stack of 100 that’s been accumulating dust, and moving diversity forward with bigger projects here at TVMC!

Laurie Bell Bishop, Brand Manager:

I’m grateful for the women who have gone before me, setting the foundation for me and my peers to create and thrive. I’m grateful for my TVMC team who I can support, be supported by and collaborate with. And I am grateful that someone discovered chocolate.

2023 will be a year of growth and play (2022 was too damn serious!) and pursuing more ways to support women 50+ to step into their power and be seen.

Neena Abraham, Social Media Manager:

I am grateful for the collaborative spirit of the TVMC team. I am also thankful for their forward-thinking approach to the work-life balance and commitment to improving mental health in the workplace. A major personal milestone was pursuing and deepening my spiritual education. TVMC gave me the space and support to become whole, and continue operating from a place of wholeness.

To me, 2023 means embracing cultural diversity in order to promote healing through connections and community.

Manejah Terzi, Content Strategist:

This year I have been especially grateful for the opportunity to work amongst and continuously collaborate with the TVMC team – every day is a new learning opportunity that I don’t take for granted. A major milestone from my desk was joining an independent writing group that I hope will inspire new ideas and ways of communicating to better connect our readers.

A big goal for 2023 is to read one book a month that expands my understanding of individuals, cultures and societies different from my own.
